Raffle Raises Funds for The Pet Rescue Center

The Pet Rescue Center’S Lawn Bowling Tournament and Raffle Raises Funds for The Pet Rescue Center (PRC), run by Laguna locals Matthew and Blythe Wheaton, held its first annual Lawn Bowling Tournament in Heisler Park at the Laguna Beach Lawn Bowling Club on Aug. 5. The event included tutorials, coaching and three elimination rounds, with 32 Orange County couples with fun team names like “The Incredibowls” competing for third-, second- and first-place medals. Among the festivities were a best hat competition, unlimited food and drinks, and a prize raffle to raise money and awareness for PRC’s important rescue, rehab and re-home program. The fundraising for animal rescue efforts was a success, further enabling PRC to provide spay and neuter services for rescued dogs and cats, veterinary care, temporary sanctuary for homeless animals as well as educational programs. —L.Z.
