Longtime gallery owner, artist and Laguna Beach resident Marc Whitney published a book featuring paintings he has created over the last 10 years. The book, titled “Flowers and Still Lifes,” is filled with his best flower and still life paintings as well as several essays he wrote about his work and what it was like to grow up in Laguna Beach’s thriving art scene. Whitney self-published the book via the website Blurb. “My goal was to make a nice book so people who come into the gallery and can’t buy a painting can still take something home,” Whitney says. As a book collector, Whitney drew inspiration from vintage European pocket books on art that showcased images alongside artist-produced essays.
