Art Auction 2013: California Underground, held by Laguna Art Museum on Feb. 9, raised approximately $175,000 that will directly benefit the museum’s education and exhibition programs. More than 450 people gathered to view and bid on works of art from more than 113 California artists, 45 of whom were in attendance, including Timothy J. Clark, Jorg Dubin and Jeff Gillette, among others. All 20 live auction items were sold, with Laddie John Dill’s “Triple Light Wedge” as the top-grossing work. Guests also enjoyed a taste of the town with an array of gourmet fare and sips from local restaurants, including Nirvana Grille, Broadway by Amar Santana, Romeo Cucina, Tamarind of London, Katsuya and Wine Gallery Wine Bar & Kitchen. —A.H.
