Sold-Out Crowd Raises More Than $320,000 for CASA of Orange County
The Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) Holiday Luncheon held on Dec. 7, 2012, saw a sold-out crowd and raised more than $320,000 for CASA of Orange County. Held at The St. Regis Monarch Beach, 620 people gathered to support CASA’s mission to change the lives of children in need through mentorship. Upon arrival, guests perused a silent auction and watched as “Top Chef: Miami” finalist Brian Malarkey whipped up some carb-less crab cakes. Throughout the event, guests also purchased “Starfish Wish” ornaments to grant holiday wishes of foster children currently in the Orange County system. The crowd then headed inside where models donning designs from Diane von Furstenberg took to the runway, preceding a keynote speech from Christine Devine of Fox 11 News and a performance from “American Idol” finalist Michael Johns. To conclude the event, Brian Malarkey stepped in to auction off a Dacor grill. —L.D.
