Bringing together surf, sand and suds, the The Deck on Laguna Beach alongside The Bungalows at Pacific Edge Hotel hosted its first annual Sip & Shuck – Oysterfest on Nov. 10, which benefited Surfrider Foundation’s south Orange County chapter, a grassroots organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world’s oceans, waves and beaches. At the sold-out event, more than 300 attendees mixed and mingled on The Deck’s spacious outdoor patio while listening to live acoustic guitar music, enjoying world-class oysters and Champagne, as well as savoring gourmet cuisine, such as grilled salmon and asparagus risotto, by The Deck’s Executive Chef Rainer Schwarz. Moreover, attendees got the opportunity to hang out inside the five custom-designed bungalows of the Pacific Edge Hotel, including spaces by Billabong, Fox Head Inc., Hobie and Tuvalu, The Sleepy Hollow Group and Gorjana & Griffin. Inside, bartenders refilled Champagne glasses and sold merchandise while guests conversed on the couches. Additionally, out on the deck, mixologists at a Ketel One Vodka and Grey Goose ice bar served guests creative cocktails while intricate sand castle art was created outside on the beachfront. Throughout the bustling event, a silent auction featuring artwork from The Mint Fine Art Gallery raised funds for the Surfrider Foundation. All in all, it was a successful oceanside event that truly showcased the mission of the Surfrider Foundation. —A.T.
