Champagne and oysters were on display at the third annual Sip & Shuck hosted by Driftwood Kitchen and The Deck on Nov. 22, 2015. As the sun set over the Pacific, nearly 400 guests slurped the seafood delicacy and filled their glasses with bubbly from around the globe—Bianchi Winery California Champagne, Martini & Rossi prosecco and OneHope California Brut sparkling wine were among the offerings, in addition to various mixed drinks. While the star of the show was the sweet and mild Minter Sweet oysters from Minterbrook Oyster Co. in Washington state, the culinary expertise of Executive Chef Rainer Schwarz was also on display, with numerous tables featuring delectable bites of Kobe beef sliders, Baja shrimp cocktails and branzino with sauce gribiche. Local musician Nick-I crooned softly throughout the evening while guests mingled in and out of The Bungalows at Pacific Edge Hotel to play games like miniature golf. To cap off the night, a silent and live auction featuring items like Red Bull KTM rider Ryan Dungey’s helmet and signed jersey, a John Wayne Foundation gift basket with a bottle of Duke bourbon and a waterfront room at the Pacific Edge Hotel raised $7,000 for Laguna Playhouse, which celebrated its 95th anniversary in 2015.
