Mission San Juan Capistrano Benefits from Annual Gala
Mission San Juan Capistrano’s Romance of the Mission benefit took place Sept. 14. The warm evening began with cocktails in the garden, followed by a concert in the outdoor ruins of the Great Stone Church by acclaimed actor/singer Davis Gaines of “The Phantom of the Opera.” Afterward guests enjoyed a delicious dinner in the main courtyard from The Ritz-Carlton, Laguna Niguel. The spectacular table settings set the night aglow with candlelight, as guests further enjoyed live music, excellent table service and a continued open bar. Gala proceeds, estimated at just under $200,000, will help fund the Gate House Preservation Project. An additional $100,000 anonymous pledge will be made if that amount can be matched towards the project’s $3.3 million budget within 60 days. —M.M.
