The fifth annual World Hunger Bowl will be held at Mozambique restaurant in Laguna Beach on Nov. 6. The event, which commemorates the end of Laguna’s interpretation of National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week, will benefit the Collaborative Courts Foundation, whose homeless outreach program funds transitional housing, emergency medical care, medication and bus passes for clients, among other services. Initiated five years ago by Chairwoman Faye Chapman, who previously served on Laguna’s Housing and Human Services Committee, World Hunger Bowl will feature a silent auction of bowls that have been handcrafted and decorated by local artisans. A live performance by musician Jamie Browning and restaurant tastings will complement the evening’s festivities, which are slated to last from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Prior to the event, the bowls will be on view through the month of October in the lobby of the Laguna Gallery of Contemporary Art.
